Lakewood Construction (Bob Devlin) Testimonials:
We hired Lakewood Construction during the late Spring/Summer of 2008 to create a sunroom on the front of our log cabin in Fairfax, VT. This was to replace an existing, deteriorating screened porch. The scope of the job involved tearing off the existing porch and then overseeing all the many steps in creating the new four-season space for us to enjoy year-round.
From the early days of planning the project through its completion, we were always impressed by Bob’s innovative ideas, honest and diligent work ethic, and willingness to go above and beyond our expectations. Bob was a true professional and an absolute pleasure to deal with. He was careful to listen to every concern that we voiced, would thoughtfully and thoroughly answer our questions, and would politely offer his suggestions on ways he felt we might address any areas of concern. We always trusted his judgment, and were never disappointed.
Bob is incredibly honest and forthright. There were no financial “surprises” along the way. He went out of his way to be sure we were satisfied with the project as it evolved. Bob is not only dependable and skilled, but the quality of his work is exceptional. It was apparent to us that he really cared about this job, and truly wanted us to be happy with and proud of our new space.
We can hardly explain how pleased we are with the finished project. From the beginning, Bob really saw the potential the sunroom could hold. His vision of what this space could be for us, coupled with his attentiveness detail, helped to create a sunroom that has become a focal point of our home.
We would not hesitate to recommend Bob Devlin to complete a job of any size or scope, and are delighted to have had the pleasure of working with him.

This was, by far, the best experience I have ever had with a contractor. Every step of the process was easy and worry free. Everything from the estimate to the inspection was taken care of in the most professional, responsible, and friendly manner. It’s not easy having workmen around the house, and I was especially dreading it because I was pregnant and had a two-year-old. But Bob, Jim, and Dave were exceptionally easy to have around. They always communicated their plans, showed up on time, followed through as scheduled, and were as polite and amicable as gentlemen. Since they were working outside most of the time, even my neighbors enjoyed their company and ended up hiring them for interior carpentry work.
Bob was very helpful, explaining the process of removing the old stuff and drawing up plans for the new construction. He explained the many options available for materials. We talked a lot about dimensions of the new steps. He really listened to what we had in mind and came up with great suggestions based on what we were looking for. He really wanted us to be happy with the final outcome, so he put a lot of thought and energy into the plans. He was most helpful when it came to deciding on railings. We did not like any of the standard hand rail options around and wanted something simple that looked nice and would not require much maintenance. When we could not find what we were looking for, Bob arranged to have custom railings welded to fit the space. That really made the final product far superior to anything we could have come up with on our own. It also left us with a much more durable product that is virtually maintenance free.
The entrance to a house is such an important part of the whole. I never would have imagined how satisfying it would be to have this area redesigned, since we were initially just trying to get rid of a lead problem. Since this project, everything from shoveling snow to walking in after a long work day is so much more satisfying. If I was in a position to build a new house, I would hire Lakewood Construction to do the whole thing.

We had a remarkably good experience with Bobby Devlin and his band of merry men! I find it hard to imagine many other construction companies that would spend an entire summer with us …..and who we would honestly miss after their departure.
They are incredibly professional and thorough and good at what they do. They don’t cut corners and they communicate very well when there are issues, options, or problems.
My husband is an engineer and an amateur handyman himself. He ALWAYS has some critique of the work of other contractors. Not with Lakewood. They do the job right from the beginning.
More importantly, they are really nice guys and fun to have around. They were WONDERFUL with our toddler son (letting him ride in the excavator, having lunch with them etc) and we now consider all of them to be friends.
If we ever need any other construction work done (large or small), we would not consider calling anyone else.

This is our second time using Lakewood. They did a first floor remodel last year. This job went just as well as the first. Bob, Jim, Dave and Grant are great to work with and have in your house. They clean up at the end of each day, and make sure things were done right. The project was completed in the 2 month time frame we were given, actually almost 2 weeks ahead of schedule.
Bob’s quote was right on, and he gave us multiple options on flooring, staircase and shower materials. We were kept up to date with weekly emails to let us know what was coming up the next week, what choices we needed to make, and gave us plenty of notice to move from one part of the upstairs to the other. They did all the heavy lifting and moved most of the things themselves. The order of the project changed as items were available early, or needed to be rescheduled, and it was always a smooth transition.
Any issues/questions that came up were discussed and we were given multiple options/recommendations to choose from. We had a non-standard size vanity in the master bath, and were having trouble finding a good match for what we wanted. Bob made custom vanities for both of our bathrooms so we could get exactly what we wanted. They came out great!
Anything that was incorrect or wasn’t up to their standards was rectified. Any questions we had were answered quickly, any changes we wanted were met with enthusiasm and with options as to how we wanted them accomplished.
